Where to Order Custom Curtains
Where to order custom curtains online: what to look for, what questions to ask, and why a made-to-measure specialist is worth it.
Ordering custom curtains online is straightforward once you know what to look for. The options range from large retailers with a custom tab to dedicated made-to-measure specialists. Here is how to choose.
What to look for
The most important thing is whether the panels are genuinely made to your measurements or just cut from a standard size. Some retailers call panels custom when they mean they offer a few extra lengths. Real custom means you enter your exact width and length and the panels are made to those numbers.
Look for a clear pricing tool. You should be able to enter your dimensions and see the price before you commit, with no surprises at checkout.
Check the returns policy before you order. Made-to-measure panels cannot be resold, so most custom curtain companies do not accept returns except for damaged or defective goods. Know where you stand before you measure.
What questions to ask
How is the price calculated? Is it by panel area, by width, or a flat rate? A transparent pricing formula lets you compare options fairly.
What fabric is used? A heavier fabric hangs better and lasts longer. Ask for swatches if you are unsure.
Is shipping included? Some companies charge separately for delivery on large orders.
Why a specialist is worth it
A store that only makes curtains has optimized everything for curtains: the fabric selection, the measurement process, the pricing tool, and the production. A large retailer with a custom tab is doing it as a side offering, and the experience usually shows.
