How to Design Your Own Curtains Online

How to design your own curtains online: choosing fabric, entering measurements, calculating fullness, and seeing the price before you order.

Designing your own curtains online is simpler than it sounds. The key decisions are fabric, size, and fullness, and a good configurator walks you through all three. Here is what each decision involves.

Choose the fabric

Start with the fabric. The fabric determines how the curtains hang, how they age, and how the room feels. See all 22 colors on the Fabric Colors page and, if you are deciding between a few, request swatches through the Contact page so you can see them in your own light.

Measure the window

Before you open the configurator, measure your window. You need the coverage width, which is the window frame width plus a few inches on each side, and the length from the rod down to your chosen ending point. Our measuring guide covers both in about five minutes.

Calculate fullness

Fullness is how much wider the fabric is than the coverage width. At 1.5x, the panels hang in relaxed folds. At 2x, they hang in deeper, more formal folds. Multiply your coverage width by your chosen fullness factor, then divide by the number of panels to get the width of each panel.

Enter the dimensions and see the price

Open the configurator, enter your panel width, length, and quantity, and the price updates as you type. Change a dimension and the price changes with it. There are no hidden fees, and shipping is free on every order.

Order when you are ready

When the dimensions look right and the price works, add to cart and check out. Every panel is made to the exact measurements you entered. Our returns policy explains what happens if something arrives damaged or defective.
